With a deep commitment to preserving the heritage of hand-spun, natural-dyed wool, we create exquisite hand-woven rugs, restore antique Oriental carpets, and share our knowledge through workshops and artist residencies.

The Woolway Story: A Legacy Woven with Passion

Founded on August 11, 2020, in Yerevan, Woolway Studios started as a small-scale, vegetable-dyeing initiative. What began as a passion for natural wool dyeing and weaving has since grown into a thriving art center that bridges past and present. Today, our work extends beyond production—we educate, restore, and collaborate with artists worldwide.

Our founder, Hayk Oltaci, has dedicated his life to the art of carpet restoration and weaving. From the moment his great-grandfather gifted him an old Ladik rug at the age of 16, he was drawn to the magic of rugs and their timeless stories. Decades later, this passion fuels Woolway’s mission to keep traditional craftsmanship alive while adapting to modern artistic interpretations.

Woolway is a space for learning. We host workshops in weaving, natural dyeing, spinning, and antique rug restoration, available year-round both in Armenia and internationally. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned artisan, our courses offer hands-on experience guided by skilled masters.

4. Artist Residencies & Collaborative Projects

Our newest venture, Woolway Studios Art Center, is a hub for creativity. Located at 9 Kentronakan 3rd Street, Argavand, Armenia, the center welcomes artists from around the world to engage with textile arts, weaving, and storytelling. Through residencies, exhibitions, and interactive workshops, we merge traditional techniques with contemporary artistic expression.
